Job Description

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Nail Technician license issued by New Mexico State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.
  2. Minimum 2 years experience as a nail technician including 1 year experience in a luxury resort setting.
  3. Ability to learn, provide and adhere to all hand and foot treatments as outlined in The Spa at Encantado Policy/Procedure Manual.
  4. Possess excellent guest interaction skills.
  5. Ability to work in an environment infused with a variety of scents, such as aromatic candles, oils and other products.

Essential Skills:

  1. Ability to assist guests in selecting services to best support them in attaining their goals while at the spa.
  2. Ability to make guests as physically and emotionally comfortable as possible while providing services.
  3. Able to identify a wide range of symptoms and disorders.
  4. Capable of performing light massage on hands and feet while applying product.
  5. Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, think clearly and follow through.
  6. Ability to focus attention on details.
  7. Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guest and hotel information
  8. Ability to access to a schedule in a computer.
  9. Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English, both orally and in writing, using correct spelling and grammar, with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding, both in person and by telephone.
  10. Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.
  11. Ability to participate in a conversation for lengths of time without talking about self.
  12. Ability to listen more than talk.
  13. Ability to work in silence if guest does not want to talk.
  14. Ability to always remain calm centered and focused despite surroundings or personal circumstances.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to bend and sit for long periods of time, regularly lift and/or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds, reach with hands and arms, use manual dexterity for fingering and feeling objects, speak and hear, have visual acuity.

  1. Able to provide 6 hours of services per day.
  2. Requires assisting people on to or off pedicure chairs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide all nail services as outlined in The Spa at Encantado Policy/Procedure Manual.
  2. Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of excellence in professional image and services.
  3. Thorough knowledge of menu of services and products, both professional and retail.
  4. Use products within guidelines set in policy/procedure manual.
  5. Follow-up with Spa Director on all comments, concerns and suggestions made by staff members and resort guests
  6. Start and end treatments on time.
  7. Maintain equipment and report any repairs needed to Operations Manager or Director of Spa.
  8. Monitor and list supplies that are needed monthly to purchase.
  9. Greet guests and escort them to the manicure and pedicure room. Upon completion of service, escort guest to next appointment, warming room or reception area.
  10. Keep work area clean and neat at all times and ensure that sanitation standards are maintained according to State Board regulations.
  11. Accurately communicate information regarding guest history to Spa Services Coordinators for input into Springer Miller.
  12. On call for not less than 5 shifts per week or 20 shifts per month for full time position and not less than 2 shifts per week or 8 shifts per month for part time position.
  13. Available to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
  14. Attend Encantado employee trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  15. Contact the spa the evening before a scheduled workday to confirm appointments, maintain contact throughout scheduled workday with Spa Services Coordinators to communicate additions, deletions and changes in schedule.
  16. Arrive 15 minutes before a scheduled shift. Return punctually from breaks and meal periods. Clock out promptly at the end of your scheduled shift.
  17. Describe and promote all spa and resort facilities, services and activities to guests.
  18. Assist other departments within the spa whenever necessary and available.
  19. Maintain helpful, cooperative and positive relations with co-workers.
  20. Responsible for adhering to Encantado employee handbook and The Spa at Encantado Policy/Procedure manual.
