Into the West Excurions

Encantado Resort introduces our exclusive and once in a lifetime experiences, called "Into the West." These programs are designed to allow you the flexibility to create your own unique and memorable New Mexico story. Guests will begin with a private guided tour of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum and a tour of the private research center….and then off to the land she loved, explored, painted and lived for over 50 years. In the summer of 1934, Georgia O'Keeffe discovered Ghost Ranch whose varicolored cliffs inspired some of her most famous landscapes. She purchased a house on the ranch property in 1940 and lived there until her death in 1989. Your private guide will show you some of O'Keeffe's favorite painting sites and see some of the subjects she painted on the ranch. Then off to a picnic lunch at her private home. Her home is rarely open to the public but will be for you on this special day. After lunch, then off to the private art studio of Native American artist Doug Coffin. Doug is a living legend and whether you have spent two weeks or several decades in Santa Fe, you are bound to encounter one of his artworks. Coffin and the region are synonymous. This is a one of kind experience blending the experience of art, fabulous countryside, history and fine food.

Guests will be transported to the private vault of one of Santa Fe's most proclaimed jewelers. They will be given access to over 10,000 pieces of jewelry—everything from earrings to rings to necklaces and belt buckles. From traditional southwestern designs to the newest contemporary creations, this is a one of a kind shopping experience…this vault is not open to the public! Wholesale pricing will be offered to you—just like the buyers from Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Then off to lunch at the home of Santa Fe's bootmaker to the stars where you will enjoy margaritas, 360 degree views, a custom boot fitting and design consultation. This is a one of a kind experience and everyone from Hollywood to Nashville owns a pair of these phenomenal boots…and you should, too!

Whether you are an art enthusiasts, collector, or just want to see some fabulous artist studios…this is the opportunity to explore and speak directly with some of Santa Fe's most renowned artist. Anyone can go to a gallery how about to some of the most private studios that make Santa Fe the third largest art market! Your guests along with an art consultant with insider knowledge will be transported to private artist studios where they will watch the creative process unfold. Then lunch on the patio of one of Santa Fe's finest artist and collectors!

Set against the dramatic backdrop of nature-sculpted, white cliffs and ancient all-knowing Cottonwood trees, flows the Chama River of Northern New Mexico. Nestled on the banks of the Chama's fertile land is an Academy Award nominee's organic farm. Here, in the serene setting of the Chama Valley, she has merged ancient herbal knowledge with modern organic growing techniques to create a holistic approach to wellness of the mind, body and spirit. Guests will travel just 30 minutes to her private home and sustainable organic and biodynamic farm producing medicinal plants, dried flowers, herbs, salves, tinctures, and potpourri. Lunch will be prepared by one of the premier sensual kitchen chefs who specializes in cooking with essential oils. You will learn to prepare unusual recipes using essential oils to make your daily life more sensual and to appreciate the vibrancy of food. You can create and enjoy Esme Red Pepper Dip with Zatar Toasted Pita Chips, Drunken Figs with Cardamon, Cinnamon and Ginger essential oils on top of Goat Cheese Salad, Cous Cous Zanzibar with Blood Orange Shrimp and our yummy dessert Chocolate Caliente with Black Pepper, Cardamon and Lemon Essential Oils over Mango Sorbet with Raspberries. These tantalizing recipes will surprise and delight even the most seasoned of chefs, and make you beg for more!

Santa Fe's cuisine is justifiably world famous, and not just for the red and green chiles that star in an amazing array of regional dishes. Guests will tour the local Farmer's Market with Encantado's acclaimed chef, Charles Dale. He will discuss local ingredients and how he uses them to create those sumptuous dishes at Encantado. Then off to the private kitchen of the only Native American James Beard Award winning chef, Lois Ellen Frank, where guests will enjoy lunch prepared just for them. There's no better way to see Santa Fe than through the tantalizing tastes of native foods prepared by gifted hands that bring out the very best flavors using an array of organic ingredients native to New Mexico, including chile, pinon nuts, and lavender. The history talk and story telling are followed by an incredible and unique meal prepared by Native American Chefs, with seasonal and locally purchased foods, many of which are supplied by Native American tribal nations using ancient sustainable practices.
