WATER

• Recycle and reuse water where appropriate.
• Use of drought tolerant landscaping.
• Use of water conserving appliances and plumbing fixtures.
• Use reclaimed wastewater for irrigation.
• Rain water catch system that holds 150,000 gallons of water.

ENERGY

Maximize energy efficiency and use of clean and renewable energy through appropriate site and building design and use of appropriate technologies.

• Double paned windows throughout the project.
• Use of energy efficient glazing and appropriate type and amount of glazing. Utilize high-efficiency, non-toxic, noise reduction insulation. Fiberglass batt insulation is used through out the project and is considered efficient and non-toxic.
• Utilize natural shading of buildings (trees and shrubs).
• Use of natural day lighting throughout.
• Use of natural ventilation for cooling.
• Energy efficient Gemcars used for on site guest and employee transportation.

OPERATIONAL FEATURES

Guiding Principle - Maximize pedestrian-friendly and aesthetic design and insure high quality lifestyle experience for resort occupants.

• Natural and Organic, bulk dispensed, premium bath amenities.
• Organic Herb and Vegetable Garden located on premise.
• Floor in the yoga room and treatment rooms are recycled bamboo.
• Throughout the project energy efficient lighting and dark-sky site lighting principals were used.
• Employees are educated on the importance of greening/environmental responsibility at this property and why it is part of the company culture.
• Custom created bath amenities delivered in bulk-size containers for minimizing waste. These products are made in small batches using raw, natural, chemical and preservative and paraben free ingredients.
• We encourage carpooling and bicycle use for employee transportation needs.
• A non-toxic housekeeping "green" cleaning program is in place.
• Green Team made up of employees will work on resource conservation programs for the resort.
• Vendors that also have a commitment to sustainability will be chosen over those that do not.
• Vendors are encouraged to minimize packaging.
• Encantado features locally grown produce and is sourced primarily through small, organic farms.
• Encantado enhances personal health, well being and productivity.
• Project construction minimizes waste and recycles materials when possible.
• Composting program for kitchen waste.

Encantado is a supporter to local and national environmental and philanthropic endeavors and makes substantial in-kind donations to a large number of charities. We hope to extend our mission to others; together we can preserve Santa Fe, New Mexico for future generations.
